Certain drivers with open wheel experience have
the opportunity to race in the Indy 500 and Charlotte 600 on Memorial Day.
It is a huge feat that requires the coordination and effort of a huge
staff to pull it off. Not only are the races run the same day, but
the practices, qualifying and drivers meetings all need to be fit in too.
Couple that with interviews and sponsor obligations, and it is easy to see
what a great ordeal this effort is to undertake.

In addition to Robby, drivers John Andretti
and Tony Stewart have pulled off "the double" in recent years.
-
Robby Gordon gave it a good
run. He completed 422.5 miles at Indy while placing 27th, and earning
$256,250.00.
-
Robby also did well at
Charlotte. He was forced to start last due to missing the drivers meeting
before the race. One might think NASCAR might make a little
exception, but they don't. He finished 17th while earning another
$104,000.00 and completed 412 miles in a rain shortened event.
-
Robby totaled over $360,000.00
dollars and raced a total of 835 miles. Not bad for "double dipping"
on Memorial Day.
