- Whenever a sport involves the
equipment, the governing body for that sport tries to neutralize the
machinery, therefore leaving the contest up to the contestants.
- NASCAR has been known to change the
rules throughout the season as they see fit.
- After a winter of testing, just before
the Daytona 500, NASCAR gave the Ford teams a rules break. The Dodge
body and Ford body are about the same so it made no sense that one would get
the rules break while the other didn't.
- Ford and Chevy both win plenty of
races, so to me, Pontiac was due for rules changes.
- 5 of the top 10 were Fords after the
event.
- 2 Chevrolets and 2 Dodges got into the
top 10. A Dodge did win the event. Again, Ford and Dodge bodies are very
similar.
- The highest finishing Pontiac was
10th. The next highest was 26th.
- To me rules breaks are like changing
the size of the clubs to golfers.
